Have you ever wondered what was in the products we constantly put on our bodies or homes? In the cosmetic industry, the US FDA has only banned 11 chemicals from being used; in Europe, 1,328 chemicals are banned. An example of a chemical being harmful in everyday life is Olaplex.
Olaplex has grown in popularity because of its excellent shampoo, "amazing for your hair." But recently there have been issues with one of the products and infertility. Olaplex No. 3 Hair perfecter had a chemical called Lillial, banned in Europe after research was conducted giving evidence that it was connected to infertility issues. Lillial is a fragrance component to cosmetics, so the only reason it is in products is to make them smell better. It can also be found under the name, butylphenyl methylpropional. Olaplex has now taken out Lillial form all of its products worldwide.
This is why it is important to know what chemicals are in your products because they could affect your body in various ways. BeautyCounter is a clean cosmetic brand that uses safe ingredients. Below is a list of ingredients they never use in their products; I encourage you to see if any of your products have these ingredients and evaluate if you should keep it or not.
