Spiritual Wellbeing: Take Time to Slow Down

Writer's picture: Lynsey HessLynsey Hess

One thing that people these days don't do enough of is slow down. Take space and time to breathe; and we are so scheduled, and life is so fast-paced that we forget to take time for ourselves. By sitting alone quietly with our thoughts, we are able to ground ourselves. A study was conducted about our breathing and how it has shallowed over decades; what is interesting is that breathing affects things like anxiety, and there has been a rise in anxiety over the recent decades. One good practice is to take a couple of deep breaths three times a day to calm yourself down. Another way to slow and calm yourself down is to find a hobby, something you enjoy, like art, music, reading, etc. These practices can be mindless and stress-relieving, which is something people need more of these days.
