Many people think that wellness is just made up of good mental health, good nutrition, and working out. While this might be true to an extent, there is so much more to wellness, like making sure your spiritual, financial, environmental, social, physical, intellectual, and emotional wellbeing are all met. I am not saying that all of those things need to be perfect. That is not realistic; everyone struggles, but if we try to keep all of those needs met, our overall well-being will be better. You might be asking, what in the world does all of that mean? Well, let me explain;
Spiritual well-being is being a part of something bigger than oneself or having a core set of values/morals.
Financial wellbeing is being financially able to cover your living expenses. In other words, it is financial security and financial freedom.
Environmental well-being is engaging in a stimulating and pleasant environment for one to be a part of.
Social wellbeing is feeling accepted into a community and being your authentic self around others.
Physical wellbeing is maintaining lifestyle choices that provide one with a healthy life.
Intellectual wellbeing is thinking creatively and critically. Intellectual well-being also means being open to learning.
Emotional well-being is being able to mainly have positive emotions and moods and handle bad moods and emotions healthily.
"Health is a state of body. Wellness is a state of mind." - J. Stanford.
